If it’s May, it’s time for the annual Historic Jefferson Train Show. It all rolls into town May 15-16, 2021. The fun starts at the Jefferson Tourism Center where visitors can enjoy a host of working model train displays and layouts.

You can visit the world famous R.D. Moses Model RR Museums complete with a children’s hands on play area.

On top of all of that, there will also be tables upon tables of model trains, parts and accessories for sale.

The entire event is sponsored by the Jefferson and Cypress Bayou Model RR Club, and Jefferson Railway & Wetlands Foundation. It was created to introduce the general public to model railroading in an entertaining, lively and family-friendly atmosphere. The hobby of model railroading has a unique ability to bring the family together. It’s activities teach many skills. Model railroad skills span from carpentry to artistry, from electrical engineering to historical research.

The event is located at 305 E. Austin Street.

Tickets are $7.00 and children under 6 are free.

Depending on the rain and more specifically the river level, rides will be available for $12 on the Historic Jefferson Railway just across the street. The ride includes a stop at the Diamond Don Gator Pit. Spectators there can see the alligators being fed.

If you get hungry, Doeboy’s Taste Of Chicago will be on hand serving up a menu of traditional Chicago style cuisine. They will have everything from Gyros to Hot Dogs to Italian Beef “Sandwhishes”.
