Wonderland of Lights has been a grand lighting tradition during the holiday season in Marshall, Texas, and has welcomed guests from all over to come and celebrate with their family and friends. While the festival was born out of a need for community, for the past three years it has seen a steady decline in sponsorship dollars and volunteer hours. This dynamic is impacting how the city approaches and stages this event.

After receiving feedback from the public on preliminary dates released from this year’s festival, the Wonderland of Lights Committee, consisting of city staff and Main Street Advisory Board leadership, met to discuss the dates for the 2021 season. The

Wonderland of Lights 2021 hours of operation have been modified in hopes that this adjustment is met with increased participation from our community.

The 2021 hours of operation are as follows:

Closed Mondays for maintenance Tuesdays & Wednesdays will be reserved for private rentals with the exception of December 21, 2021 – December 23, 2021, which will be open to the public.

The lights that will adorn the downtown area of Marshall will remain up until the beginning of January 2022. There will also be many special events for our community to attend such as the traditional lighting ceremony, the annual lighted Christmas parade, the beloved Wassail Walk, and even the opportunity to catch a showing of The Grinch, at the newly-renovated Memorial City Hall.

Wonderland of Lights began as a community driven event, the City of Marshall hopes to continue encouraging the spirit of community involvement by way of volunteering at Wonderland of Lights 2021. For information on how you can volunteer please call (903) 702–7777.
