Located in the outskirts of Athens, Tara Vineyard and Winery sits atop its pleasant hill, filled with acres of grapevines. Enjoy delicious cuisine, delectable wine, and their historically preserved inn.

BLANC DU BOIS & SPANISH BLACK

The obvious main attraction to this vineyard is the world-class wine. Their precious Blanc Du Bois grapes help produce some of the most refreshing white wine you will ever taste. Savor the notes of apple and pear with the 2022 Blanc Du Bois Dry. Or enjoy the tropical aromas of the 2023 Something Sweet Texas.

Tara Vineyard offers a wide variety of reds that are fermented with their on-site Spanish Black grapes. A couple of popular flavors are their Sweet Scarlet Rose Texas 2021 and Texas Twang 2022, which has a mixture of both Blanc du Bois and Black Spanish grapes.

At the bar, you can try many awards winning wines produced at Tara Vineyard or from other award-winning Texas wineries.

Doing a couple of things well, seems to be the aim here at Tara Vineyard and Winery. And they accomplish this goal very well with their exquisite dining experience. From starters to entrees, each dish is crafted with intention to deliver an unforgettable meal. Steak, salmon, and much more are prepared fresh and all pair delightfully well with a specific wine.

We got to try their Fresh Tomato Bruschetta and Charcutierie Board. Both looked like works of art, being dazzled with a variety of fresh herbs and cheeses.

THE TARA INN

When you pull onto the dirt road of the vineyard, it’s hard to miss the icon historic home rising up behind the grapevines. This special homestead once housed the Tara Vineyard family. Now, you can rent out some of their individually designed suites or the entire building! Much of the home has been preserved to keep its originally feel with its glorious wood floors and exterior. Plus, they just added a brand new pool so you can cool off in these last days of summer!

William Pierce, Chief Operating Officer, gave us a brief tour of the property, highlighting the various characteristics that make this winery so special. As we walked the property, he showed us the many rows of grapes, told us incredible stories on its history, and even got to meet some of the unique pets that call this place home. You too can enjoy a tour of Tara Vineyard just as we did!
