Since the 1930′s, Daingerfield State Park has been an oasis for families looking for a little getaway for the weekend. This safe and family-friendly park has everything you need to recharge the family with some fun and relaxation.

500 ACRES OF FUN

“We’re a small, but mighty park!”

Though Daingerfield State Park may be a little smaller than some of its sister parks in East Texas, it packs just as much fun! Taylor Hackemack, Superintendent, shared with us that there is something for everyone here. There is hiking, biking, camping, picnicking, and birdwatching, just to name a few.

The day-use area of the park is very impressive. On the map, it may look small, but in person it is massive! This whole section of the park focuses on family fun. Rent kayaks or paddle boats from the watercraft rental building. Stop by the fully stocked Little Pine General Store for a great souvenir. Or cannonball off the swim platform at the bottom of the giant lawn. The longer you stay, the more fun you will find here.

Such a phenomenal experience today at the park! We enjoyed having all of the eclipse viewing visitors! It was such a...

WATERFALL

Right off the Rustling Leaves Trail lies a special geographical feature within Daingerfield State Park. As you head west, past a beautiful dock area, you will find yourself at the edge of a small cliff. By working your way down with some conveniently, and naturally, placed rocks and roots, you will arrive at a waterfall! This little natural wonder creates such a calming atmosphere, as thousands of gallons of lake water falls down into the stream below. Super great opportunity for some photos.

As we were exploring this trail, we encountered tons of wildlife! We met a few sunbathing turtles along the water’s bank. Later, we captured some great footage of two different species of lizards. And most surprising of all, as we were admiring the waterfall, a GIANT dragonfly landed on Andrew Terpening’s leg! (Watch our video above.) It’s very clear that the animals here like to have fun, and so will you.

AN EASY DAY ESCAPE

“The silence is what I think a lot of people are craving.”

As you pull off of Texas State Highway 11, you are greeted by the towering pines of Daingerfield State Park. As you mosey your way down the curvy entrance road, you will notice that the hustle and bustle of the city has disappeared. It’s as if you entered a whole other world! Taylor shared that this is peace that visitors are usually after. Whether it’s for a few hours or a number of days, guests that visit the park can find rest from their 9-to-5 and daily stressors.

Daingerfield State Park is a great place to come and retreat with family and friends too! On our visit, we stopped by the various campsites and cabins. There is plenty of space where you will feel like you have your own little slice of nature to admire. If you are looking to bring a large group, we highly recommend the Bass Lodge. Nestled on a hillside above Little Pine Lake, this multi-room cabin is perfect for family reunions or other big gatherings.

We absolutely loved our time at Daingerfield State Park, and we know you will too! Make your reservation, bring a friend, and get ready for a weekend of nature fun!
