Years ago, Becky Wolfe found some enjoyment in retirement by selling a few pies over at her antique shop in Palestine. Soon enough, the popularity of these wonderful pies caught the attention of many locals. Today, Oxbow Pies is now owned and operated by her son, David Wolfe, and his wife, Breezy Lake-Wolfe. Together, this family crew is continues to bake legendary pies for East Texas and beyond!

THE PIE

“You know, every season everybody has their favorites.”

Let’s just start off by saying that Oxbow has a huge number of world-renowned pies to choose from. Honestly, the accolades and famous magazine features speak for themselves. This is really, really good pie. Sure, you can get them by the slice here. But once you try one you are going to want to order a whole pie to take home so your family and friends can enjoy.

During our time at Oxbow, we tried the Lemon Icebox, Buttermilk, and Cherry Pie. From the flaky crust to the distinct flavoring, each pie is crafted with the utmost skill and perfection. (The Lemon Icebox was my personal favorite.)

The atmosphere at Oxbow has that relaxed Southern feel. With plenty of seating options inside and out, it’s nice to just kick back and enjoy a slice. We saw multiple families laughing together and delighting in some pie on the bakery’s rustic front porch.

GENERAL STORE

“I wanted to create something like a one stop shop for folks.”

Breezy Wolfe shares her vision for the other half of Oxbow. Located within the bakery, the Oxbow General Store offers a wide variety of gifts, condiments, toys, and more!

Pick up some craft olive oil for your next family dinner. Snag a Southern Baked cookbook and try creating some new pies yourself at home. The general store here at Oxbow so some many great gifts. Breezy and David’s son even helped design and fill their toy section with items like a Goonies coloring book, Old World Kaleidoscope, Giant Rubber Duckies, and other great toys! We promise you’ll find a trinket or spice you’ll want to take home with you.

OLD TOWN PALESTINE

The Oxbow Bakery is located in a section of the city called Old Palestine. In this old timey area, you can enjoy incredible food, music, and a great thrifting scene. Across from Oxbow lies the Pint & Barrel Drafthouse where you can try out some excellent craft beer. Down the road you can experience some live country shows at the Shelton Gin. For those of you that thrive on one finding that perfect antique piece for your home, stop by Wells Creek for some great indoor and outdoor items! You can make a full day out at Old Palestine.

Oxbow Pies is a key part of the family of attractions in Old Palestine. Plan your next weekend visit to stop in and make some long-lasting memories over an incredible piece of pie! Then, enjoy all the shops and food spots that this super fun historic district has to offer.
