Shyanne Cyrus, manager of The Clean Brew, explains their mission to the people of Van. With the creativity of making their own syrups for coffees to the hard work of washing and folding hundreds of loads of laundry with their drop-off service, The Clean Brew is impacting their community in an energized way.

COFFEE

Stepping up to the order window, you are hit with the floral aroma of freshly ground coffee beans. The sounds of expresso machines piping off in the background. The Clean Brew is ready for your coffee order. Their barista team can make just about any type of coffee for you. Drip, cortados, cappuccinos, lattes, americanos, you name it! We recommend trying their “1885!” This Texas-inspired coffee is a perfect combination of expresso, vanilla syrup, and good ol’ Dr. Pepper. It’s a great mix of sweet and bold. LAUNDRY

The goal of a laundromat is to provide clean clothes. This is a simple matter, one that The Clean Brew most certainly provides. Many washers and dryers line the walls where you can easily maneuver to drop in a load of clothes. It’s as easy as putting in a few quarters and watching your laundry go from dirty to clean. “After the tornado, somebody needed to do something with that little laundromat... turned out to be us.”

Mark Thompson, owner of The Clean Brew, shares the devastating results of the 2015 tornado that wreaked havoc on Van. One of the damaged buildings happened to be this specific laundromat, where The Clean Brew now stands. With hard work and hope to create something unique, Mark, his wife, Lori, and daughter, Shyanne, formed this coffee shop and laundromat combo into what it is today. From once an old, abandoned building to gathering spot for locals and visitors, The Clean Brew has become a staple in their town.

“I usually wear my baby on my back when I’m here... they always love seeing her. They bring us diapers and things like that.”
