Envisioning more than just a workspace with their new building, Leslie Cain Realty commissioned Latvia-born Dace Kidd to help create something special for East Texans by showcasing snapshots of what makes Tyler a fantastic city to call home. The completion date for the mural is estimated to be Friday, August 25th, and the public is welcome to stop by, snap pictures, and enjoy this new work of art commemorating Tyler.

“There is something about painted murals that make me happy, and I think they captivate and inspire people and add vibrancy and life to the mundane things, such as office buildings.” said Leslie Cain, Broker/Owner of Leslie Cain Realty. Cain said she had seen Dace’s work in several places in Tyler and knew she would be the artist to create the special piece of art.

Kidd is a Latvian/American visual artist working primarily in the media of oil and acrylic on canvas. She completed her degree work at Art Academy of Latvia in Riga and received advanced training for two years at Accademia di belli Arti in Palermo. Her installations and paper sculptures along with her large-scale drawing and paintings are better known in Europe. After moving to the United States in 2011, Kidd begun creating murals and has become a successful portrait artist. In 2017 she established the Mural Artist Tx brand and has been traveling all over the state of Texas to create murals for individuals and businesses. Her specialty is photo opportunity murals. She also designs graphics and books and has provided the cover art and illustrations for many. Kidd has had successful shows throughout Europe from Venice to Berlin to Amsterdam and has exhibited artwork in New York City and Miami. She works on site specific projects and regularly shows her work and curates art events in Tyler and Dallas, Texas. In 2016, Kidd received the International Emerging Artist Award in Dubai, UAE.

The mural is a bright and bold montage of the biggest symbols of Tyler including the Rose Queen, the Azalea District, Earl Campbell, Bergfeld Center, Liberty Theater and others, and also includes Leslie Cain Realty’s slogan, “Your Key to Sold!”

The mural is located on the new Leslie Cain Realty building at 4208 Old Bullard Road in Tyler.
