From their family to yours, a flower & pumpkin farm in East Texas is bringing tens of thousands of flowers for you to add a splash of color into your life!

Elm Creek Flower Farm is the creation of Amanda & Thomas Wilson, who wanted to bring something fun to the people of East Texas. Amanda started with a flower garden in California, and while it was only a hobby in the past, it has only continued to grow and grow.

“My brother and I are one year apart and he is a botanist. I would actually like tag along on his botany field trips and things,” said Amanda. “I kind of just always emulated my little brother and here I am.”

Amanda, a geochemist herself, and her husband work tirelessly to bring new flowers and beautiful arrangements as they continue to grow their farm.

During the week there are multiple ways to get some color creations from Elm Creek, they have a self-serve flower barn with pre-made bouquets and on Saturdays you can enjoy picking your own choice of flowers.

“I remember the first flower farm I went to, and I was in awe, and even like all of our neighbors are just like, so happy that they have a flower farm,” said Amanda. “We were ordering like 7,000 bulbs, and each bulb put out ten flowers. Theoretically, this is 70,000 flowers. Turs out that was not enough.”

For even more fun, the Wilsons are planning more u-pick events for the fall with live music, games, food vendors, and time for the community to gather together.

“People just came to stop and not have the hustle and bustle of the city. They put blankets out, they brought picnic baskets, they brought charcuterie plates, and they just relaxed on the flower farm,” said Amanda. During the spring and fall it is easier for these events to be held, that way this Texas heat doesn’t hurt the flowers (or our skin!). Elm Creek has even held a yoga event at the farm, so it’s always worth keeping an eye on to see what events they may come up with!

During the fall, not only will it be time for u-pick events and community fun, but the pumpkins will be ready! With Amanda telling us, “I can’t even remember how many varieties, I mean, probably over a hundred different varieties of pumpkins are growing.”

Amanda goes on to tell us they’ve done their research to bring some truly unique pumpkins to the community, from lovely pumpkins to decorate the porch, to warty, creepy pumpkins perfect for the spooky season.

Elm Creek is open for photographers to use, with professional photographers able to book sessions on the farm to use as a backdrop for any occasion. AND for custom floral designs, such as for a wedding, or for people who want advise and help with their own cut flower garden, you can contact Elm Creek to begin planning what you need!

The u-pick area is open on Saturdays from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM. The self-serve flower barn is open Thursday-Saturday from 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM. To contact Elm Creek Flower Farm about custom work, or to keep up with new events and specials each week, you can visit their Facebook page here.
