If you’re looking for a place to find some quiet and enjoy a night under the stars, look no further than The Hideout at Lake Hawkins! This hidden gem is the perfect way to enjoy some peace and quiet for a weekend getaway.
Opened by Randi & Andrew Haluptzok in March of 2022, they started this project after visiting the area and enjoying an escape from Dallas before they would eventually be able to purchase multiple acres across from the lake.
“I think a big key for us was recreating the feeling that we had when we came out here for others and giving them a space to enjoy the area like we did. It was just really a great experience,” said Andrew. Randi added, “It feels good to know that we’re creating an opportunity for families to create memories for their children and their spouses that they can take with them for a lifetime.”
The Hideout features 5 homey cabins that come stuffed with all you’ll need to enjoy a getaway. Located immediately around the cabins, you can enjoy a walk through the woods, a stop by the pond, play at the playground, or enjoy time by the fire. Being right by Lake Hawkins, it’s a quick walk from your cabin to enjoy a sandy beach, right here in East Texas.
“I was an office girl in Dallas. I had an office job. I did not know how to pound a t-post, but now I do. One of my favorite parts about being out here has been learning the impact that we’re having on other people,” said Randi. “A husband stopped me as him and his wife were leaving to go to the grocery store and he got out of the car and he told me that he picked this place as an anniversary for him and his wife and he goes, ‘I think I picked a winner’.”
More than just The Hideout, the Haluptzoks have also opened The Hangout at Lake Hawkins, an event venue that can be rented out for any type of need, with the potential for events to be hosted by The Hangout in the future. The Hangout is 2,500 square feet and is located right next to The Hideout, directly across the street from Lake Hawkins. And if you need to rent out cabins and the venue, that’s no problem either!
“Once we got done developing the cabins, we started to kind of shift our focus on this building because it was just sitting here, and we decided to renovate it into an event venue,” said Randi. “We do have a bar set up, which I think is kind of cool. We’re really open to any kind of event, birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, reunions, quinceañeras, auctions, charity events, anything really.”
Between the cabins, the venue, and of course Lake Hawkins, it’s easy to see why visitors from East Texas and beyond love making a stop at this secluded retreat, perfect for getting away from the city and relaxing.
