Nestled away near Palestine, a hidden gem has been serving East Texans and visitors alike for 19 years!

In 2004, starting with just two rooms and a small restaurant, Chef Simon Webster opened up Sabor a Pasion, which means “a Taste of Passion”. Originally from England, immigrated to New Zealand as a child, before eventually ending up right here in Texas.

“I ended up buying this property because it had a chance to grow and that’s really how it’s developed over the years,” said Chef Webster. “We started off with two rooms, so it snowballed over the years so that most people will drive two and a half hours to get away for the weekend.”

With decades of knowledge developing restaurants all over the world and having been trained at the New Zealand Culinary Institute, it’s no wonder the experience is top notch. A pilot himself, Chef Webster even regularly provides catering for pilots coming into Palestine.

The first step to enjoying an experience at Sabor a Pasion, is to make a reservation at Restaurant Aubergine. Chef Webster uses local-grown ingredients along with fruit and animal products from local farmers. The restaurant is by reservation only.

Friday nights are wood-fired pizza nights, featuring a salad, pasta, the pizza, and some New Zealand Pavlova to top it off. Saturday nights lean into a 3 course bistro menu with an assortments of food options prepared by Chef Webster. Plus, the menu changes around so there is always new food to try. When you choose to stay overnight in one of the cottages or estate bedrooms, you also get to enjoy a breakfast plus dinner if you so choose.

“It’s available for them to have their dinner if they want to have it Friday or Saturday or during the week when they stay,” said Chef Webster. “They can eat on the front porch or they could sit on the patio. We have two outdoor Tuscan tables where people can sit.”

There are 6 cabins available to stay in, only with two estate bedrooms on the main building for guests to stay in. Additional packages are available for the stay, that include dinner, a spa treatment that’s available on the grounds, golf, fishing, & hunting packages, or even a romance package for a special stay!

Perfectly places between Dallas, Houston, & Austin, Sabor a Pasion serves as the perfect place to escape from city life, with visitors coming from all over to make their escape and try some of Chef Webster’s delightful delicacies.

More than a quick stay if needed, this destination also has a dining room for up to 40 people and a ballroom, built by Chef Webster, that can accommodate up to 200 people. Regardless of your needs, Chef Webster has proven he can make your visit to Sabor a Pasion a truly magnificent experience.
