We’ve previously brought you coverage on Upward Treehouse, built by the Hartong family back in 2020, which provides large groups a chance to hang out in the treetops and have a truly memorable experience here in East Texas.

Now, in 2022, Jason and Liz Hartong are making your treehouse adventure a more intimate experience, where you can enjoy reconnecting not only with nature, but with your partner when you spend time in their new romantic retreat in the trees, the Moon Honey Treehouse!

“From the get-go, I wanted there to be little destination places for couples to sit and connect,” said Jason. “We wanted to create a place where people could unplug from the busy, the crazy, social media, work, kids, school demands, and they could exhale and have a few moments together.”

Moon Honey Treehouse is located in Garden Valley, about halfway between Lindale and Van. There are 3 levels to the treehouse for couples to enjoy during their getaway. Starting on the ground, you have access to a firepit and covered patio for relaxation directly outside of the treehouse. The next floor goes up through the tree trunk and up half of the spiral staircase where there is a living area, kitchen, laundry room, full bathroom, and an outside veranda (plus a cozy hammock to really feel like you’re swinging in the trees!). The top floor provides the best look of the area, with the bedroom, half bath, and kitchenette, plus a cozy reading nook that provides a 360 look around through the windows.

“I think anytime you have an opportunity to get out in nature, it does something to your soul,” said Jason. “It settles you, quiets you, centers you. Getting to do that with someone you know and love, I think is even better. This forest is absolutely beautiful all year round, tons of wildlife, even in the winter it’s pretty magical.”
